- Why do I need a security system?
Statistics show that 1 in 20 homes will be broken into each year. Having a monitored alarm system will dramatically reduce the likelihood of an intrusion in your home. - What type of system is better a wired system or a wireless?
Both types of systems are equally reliable. We install quality “hybrid” Security Systems, meaning most of the system is hardwired with wireless devices used as required. - Why should I have my security system monitored?
A monitored alarm system provides 24 hour supervision and assurance that the appropriate actions are taken when required. For example in the event of a fire, if your system includes a smoke detector, the monitoring station will be notified and can notify your local fire department to respond. - How do we operate our system?
Our technicians will take the time to show you how the system works. They will also provide you with a user manual. Approximately 2 weeks after your installation our sales representative will visit you to ensure that you are comfortable with all aspects of your system. - What happens in a power failure?
Your security system comes with a back up battery that will ensure your system is operational for up to 48 hours. - How will I know if my back up battery is low?
If the voltage of your 12 volt back up battery drops below 11 volts, your keypad will advise you of a low battery condition. As well a signal will be sent to the monitoring station to inform them of the low battery condition and Sound Security will be notified as well. If the low battery is a result of an extended power outage, then once the power is restored the battery will recharge and a “restore” signal will be sent to the monitoring station. - Can we have an alarm system if we have pets?
The simple answer is yes you can. We can accomplish this with either the use of pet immune motion sensors, or by installing a perimeter “pre-entry” system. - I like to leave my windows open for fresh air, can I still be protected?
Yes you can. We are the only company in the Comox Valley to offer Screen Alarms. Once we install and program your security system your screens will be armed 24 hours a day, if a potential intruder tries to remove the screen or cut the screen material the alarm will sound. - How do we know that our system is working?
Your system has some features programmed in to help us ensure your system is working. Your system will monitor the back-up battery strength as well as the battery strength in any wireless devices. Your system is also programmed to send a daily signal to the monitoring station. If the monitoring station does not receive your regularly scheduled signal they will send us notification that the test code was not received and we will follow up with you.
